Haircuts and Quotes

The girls got their hair cut this week, which was quite the exciting event for them. Alana sat on the big seahorse all by herself and did a great job. She just wanted a trim, and says she likes her hair long. After the cut, she asked to have it in a french braid and then got sparkles sprayed on it.

Jaylee surprised me by being willing to sit on the seahorse by herself for her first haircut. You can tell she was getting tired.
All done! and sparkles in her hair, and on her arms. She loved the sparkles on her arms and showed them off the rest of the day. She called them "Princess Sparkles"
And a few kid quotes:
Alana: If you see something bouncy, it's just me! (this sums her up very well)
G-Jaylee, do you have a brownie?
J-No, I have eyebrows, see? (wiggling eyebrows)
Kale-My soccer ball's name is Mifty. He talks to me and tells me to kick him in the goal. IF I don't make a goal and win, I'll be so mad at him!
Jaylee- (toot at the dinner table) It was me! That was me! It was loud!
Alana-I love looking like a rock start. I am a star, mom
Alana-Sunsets are dangerous. It's dangerous and kills animals and hurts people too, and makes them sleep until they die. Sunsets are dangerous.
(I figured out after a minute she meant Sunset Herb from her barbie Island Princess movie...then it made sense)

Soccer

Kaleb is playing soccer for the first time this year. He has been asking to play, and was so excited to start.

They practice once a week, and have a game every Saturday.

He is a proud member of the Iguana Team!

On the sidelines waiting to sub in

His first throw in. The refs are pretty understanding about the kids just learning how to throw the ball in, and keeping the ball in play. One little boy was trying to paddle the ball in the goal with his hands.

Bunch Ball at it's best. The coaches are allowed on the field with them to give directions, but they all end up chasing the ball at the same time anyways.

Kale taking a goal kick. His dribbling is quite good, but we need to work on his shooting. It is so cute to watch how many kids miss the ball altogether. Kaleb is really enjoying playing, but he is still very competitive. They have lost both games so far which has made him pretty upset. We are still working on being a good sport.

Pic Update

Blogger has not been overly cooperative with allowing me to upload pictures, so here is a belated update with a few kid quotes.

Jaylee "My potty is hiding. Potty! Where are you? Maybe it's asleep. Shh...my potty is asleep"

"All girls are princesses, but all boys aren't princes. Boys are monkeys. Kaleb is a monkey"
(he was very okay with this statement)

"I hate this preschool. If they don't let me paint, I'm not going"

Kaleb, holding up a VHS "Wow, is this like a DVD? But big, and heavy, and a rectangle?"

Daddy "does lily eat flies"
Jaylee "yeah!"
Daddy "does jaylee eat flies?"
Jaylee "No, I can't eat flies, they're ewweee"

First Day of School Pictures

Kaleb started kindergarten a few weeks ago. He was so excited to go to the big school. He is in half day kindergarten, which has been great for him. He is enjoying his class and his teacher. He is also really excited to go to the other classes, like PE and music.

Walking in on the first day. We had a day where we were running late, so I parked at the curb and left the girls in the car to walk Kale to the door. He stopped me about half-way there and said, "I got it, mom."
Now he wants to go in by himself every day, and is even crossing the street to go in, (with a crossing guard).

Alana started preschool the week after. She was so excited, she hardly slept the night before. We found her wandering the house most of the night. She was up before 6am, bouncing on her bed shrieking "school day!". So everyone had an early start that day.

A rare picture with a REAL Alana smile!

"Mom, I look like a rock star in this dress. I'm a rock star"
Jaylee didn't want to be left out of the photos. Alana was more willing than Kaleb to share the spotlight.

Alana is enjoying school, although sometimes frustrated wanting to do more than the class is doing. She announced after her first day that she hated school, because she didn't get to paint
